Global Bass Roundup #5

Oye Globalistas! And welcome back to another hot bundle of global bass goodness.

Now, unless you live in the States, then your life is probably dominated by football just now as the two biggest international tournaments outside of the World Cup are in full flow right now. Yep, here in Europe, we have the Euros going on, and the Copa America over the water. England flatter to deceive by topping their group with a barely scraping by kinda vibe. But you’re not here to read about football, you want some fat global bass beats. So let’s not disappoint you. Let’s go! Beleza.

Hey! You made it to the end. See you next time.

Global Bass Roundup #4

Oye Globalistas. Time for another GBR.

For me, hearing new music is one of the best ways to escape from all the ills in the world just now. And even better is to be able to play new bangers for clubbers. But, still I can’t do that. So sharing the music I find with you the reader, whilst not anywhere near DJing, is better than nothing. And let me tell you, I’ve found some proper bangers for you this week. I wouldn’t usually have a “Tune Of The Week”, but I’m loving M3B8’s new tune “Turn Up Loud” so much, that I have to call it out. I also love Tomcio’s remix of SL2’s “On A Ragga Tip”. Plus check out Matesu “Transparente”. The young Paulista is only 16 years old! But don’t stop there coz’ there’s a barrel full of tasty beats for you to get lost in.

One last thing, you’ve found your way here, which is great, but don’t keep it to yourself. Please share with your buds. Tweet it, facebook it, or what ever your preferred social media is. We need eyes on our posts and you can help, thanks. So enjoy. Beleza!

Global Bass Roundup #3

Oye Globalistas!

And welcome back to our (relatively) regular roundup from the world of Global Bass. This edition sees the usual selection of Dancehall, Baile Funk, Moombahton, Afrobeat etc. But I decided to throw a bit of UK Bass in there for ya as well! As I’m sure you know, underground bass music has many roots in the UK, so it’s only logical that some of it should be included in a Global Bass selection. So bun a’ bifta, or whatever tickles your undercarriage and dig in to these woofer wobblers. Beleza…

Global Bass Roundup #2

Oye Globalistas!

Back once again with the digital damage. Welcome to GBR. We’ve mined the platforms to scavenge for tasty Global Bass nuggets, so you don’t have to. This week in our selection we have some Afrobeat, a bit of Dancehall, a touch of Moombahton and of course some Funk Carioca (we are Club Popozuda after all)! But let’s kick off with some vids, beginning with the excellent Angelique Kidjo (Benin) and her powerful tune “Dignity” featuring Yemi Alade. Beleza:

Global Bass Roundup

Oye Globalistas!

Welcome back. After a long break we’re back! The past year has been tough for everyone (literally), and as our existence relies on organizing parties and releasing music for DJs to play in clubs, we’ve found it tough to tread water during this period. But, enough is enough. We have a backlog of tunes to release and are starting to plot for life in the after-times. But to begin with, the thing that’s easiest to do is share a selection of recently released Global Bass bullets.

So let’s kick off with this selection of Baile Funk, Moombahton, Cumbia and some Afro-Beat. And we’ll start with this banger from Carioca producer Leo Justi and his Heavy Baile project featuring UK spitter Magugu. Beleza…

Free Release – Stranger Moombah by Bumps (Exclusive Wav DL)

stranger-moombah

Oye Globalistas (and fans of Netflix)

After watching the great Netflix series Stranger Things, I was bowled over by the brilliant music by composers Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon. I wasn’t alone. Deadmau5 made a video of himself in his studio, playing with his impressive collection of analog synths for hours and hours, re-creating the arps from the show’s theme-tune. The music was an accurate homage to the amazing work of digital music pioneers like Giorgio Moroder and John Carpenter.

Carpenter scored all the music for his iconic movies, creating incredible soundscapes that became as important as anything else to the creative success of movies like Halloween, Escape From New York and especially Assault On Precinct 13, which even used to be played in clubs. Now I don’t have as an impressive  analog synth collection as Mr Deadmau5, but I do have a Juno 106 and an old Korg, so I thought I’d play around with them a while and this is what I came up with. It’s merely inspired by Stranger Things, not a cover of it. So if you were looking for that, you’ll find loads on Soundcloud etc. Enjoy…
