Free Release – Steve Tellco URRAR EP

Tellco Banner

Free!!!

Always a good word to hear and this time applied to this cheeky ‘lil EP from French DJ/Producer, Steve Tellco. Steve’s been active in the Global Bass scene for a while now and this is first EP. Like the rest of us, Steve is borrowing vibes from all over the world of Global Bass, with a healthy nod to the Neo Baile and Favela Bass scenes, as well as influences from Zouk and Trap. Beleza…

Videorama: Let’s meet Funk na Caixa!

ren ban

Oi Globalistas!

As a blog reader that loves all things Global Bass, I’m sure you already know about Funk na Caixa. Home of the Neo Baile wing of the Global Bass fellowship, FnC is run by sometime CP poster, DJ Renato M2. Renato is based in Sao Paulo and has established FnC as one the taste makers of the international Global Bass scene. We also compiled the first Neo Baile compilation together, along with Mr Bongo, which was even released on vinyl. If you never heard Funk Globo, then you can check it out below. Anyway, let’s have Renato tell you about it himself:

CP Unreleased: Bumps feat. MC Gi – Berimbau

Gi Banner

Oi Globalistas.

And here we go with our latest release, Berimbau, by myself (Bumps) and my buddy MC Gi over in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Actually, this was originally due to be released ages ago, but as is often the case with music, there were complications which lead to delays and then the shelf. But don’t despair! Coz’ here it is with a bunch of top-notch remixers doing their thing too. DJ Comrade of Xao Productions drops a Montagem vibe, whilst Germany’s Symbiz tear it apart with their post-Dubstep slant. Then you’ve got a dash of EDM darkness from Illexxandra and The Word (formerly Tigorilla) bringing up the rear with his House stomper. The release is on promo and available on Soundcloud for a limited period. Then it will available from all your fave digital music retailers.

Be sure to check out the crazy video created by the one and only El Malito. Beleza.

Fresh Blood! Neo Baile Funk

fresh blood ban

Yes Funk fans.

We like to keep a special eye on the producers in Rio and Sao Paulo and when some new (to us) and interesting cats turn up, we like to share our discoveries with you. So here are a couple of Funkeiros you may not have come across yet. Both pushing the sound forward. Both innovating.

First up, 3 bangers from Rio’s Yuri Martins DJ. Dope…

And now Italo Carvalho aka Detona Funk, who hails from Sao Paulo:

Baile Funk Monster Megaload: 60 Bangers!

BFFM

Don’t be scared!

It might be massive, but you can handle it. Yes Funkeiros, this edition of megaload was just so big that I had to create a playlist instead of embedding the tracks one by one. There’s just too much to go into detail, but all the usual suspects are in there, DJ R7, Bam Bam, DJ RD DA NH, Alex MPC, plus a whole bunch of other cats. Trust me, it’s worth checking out this list, coz there’s some corkers in there and you can download most of them free! The selection comprises of not just Baile Funk itself, but also Favela Bass, Favela Trap and Rasterinha. Beleza…

A little more from Bahia Bass

Esporte+Clube+Bahia

(Yes Globalistas! A new voice. Say hello to Renato M2 of Funk Na Caixa in Sao Paulo. Bumps out)…

I love electronic music and I love Brazilian culture. When I started DJing there were a few styles with Brazilian culture on eletronic beats, Neo Funk (Neo Baile) was my favorite, so I went that way and I’m still loving it. But, for the past couple of years, more Brazilian ghetto music has started to grow and show it’s face. Bahia Bass is one of those, and it’s getting to be my other love (like a second son). So, here are few tracks that I’m enjoying right now:

It’s All About Brazil: Baile Funk Megaload

bum bum

Yes Popozudites, our stock and trade!

You know what’s coming on Thursday! If you don’t, then you must be a member of that tribe that Beckham visited in the Amazon. Which would be surprising, as I’d wonder how you got on the internet, or even why you had a computer! Brazil and Rio will be center stage for the next month and we love it. Back in the good ol’ days of Global Ghetto, one of my most popular posts were the Baile Funk Megaload posts. Those pages still get lots of views to this day and that’s going back four years or so! So here is the Club Popozuda inaugural BFM.  Beleza…

Club Popozuda Mixtape #33! Dorly Neto

cp 33 Dorly Neto banner

More mixtape goodness!

Yes peepo’s, time for another exclusive, super-dope, hot as feck, Club Popozuda mixtape. You may not know the name of Dorly Neto, but along with the Asshake boys, Pesadâo Tropical, and a few others, we see the seeds of the next wave of Brazilian producers, who have really embraced the idea of Global Bass and are influenced by the wealth of beats they hear from around the globe. Dorly is also under the tutelage of Baile Funk O.G’s, Sany Pitbull and Grandmaster Raphael as part of the Red Bull Favela Beats project. Dorly DJ’s at parties around Rio with his own brand of Favela Bass. Beleza…
