Welcome back. What with running a label, producing new material, promoting, DJing and having two small children, without the benefits of having a large organization to back me up, certain things fall by the wayside. Our blog has been one of those things. But I’ll try to rectify that. Starting with this post.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

A certain young fellow called Bumps (i.e. me) was deeply ensconced in the House music scene. Then he decided he wanted something else and his journey to Global Bass began. House went out the window and Tamborzao took over. But recently, a few House tunes have crept back in and this one seemed appropriate for the Baby Bumps moniker. This tune represents the original essence of what Baby Bumps was all about, Disco Dub. There may be more and as a way of re-introducing the Baby Bumps name we decided to put this one out gratis. Germany’s Andrés Digital smashes it with his Cumbia heavy throwdown in our latest Club Popozuda mixtape. 60 minutes of Global Bass goodness. We asked Andrés to give a bit of blurb in case you aren’t familiar with his work. This is what he sent us:

Andrés Digital is DJ and Producer from Darmstadt, Germany. He is searching the perfect crossover and mixes Cumbia with Reggae, Dancehall, Moombahton, Dembow, Tropical Bass, Trap and more to bring up his own vision of the new Cumbia Sound. Till today he made 10 Albums full of Original Productions, Remixes and Mash-ups. He played Gigs all around Europe, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Estados Unidos. Hot on the heels of “Berimbau” comes another offering from me, this time a Rasterinha inspired ditty with my good buddy, Brooklynite Loki Da Trixta. “K Beleza” is all about our love of Brazil, it’s people and culture and Loki filmed the video on location in São Paulo.
 
We’ve got a nice selection of remixers to keep you happy too including: João Brasil, Fuzzy Fotch, Pizza Pizza, El $abor and Arena. A real mix up of styles from Old Skool House to Jungle.

And here we go with our latest release, Berimbau, by myself (Bumps) and my buddy MC Gi over in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Actually, this was originally due to be released ages ago, but as is often the case with music, there were complications which lead to delays and then the shelf. But don’t despair! Coz’ here it is with a bunch of top-notch remixers doing their thing too. DJ Comrade of Xao Productions drops a Montagem vibe, whilst Germany’s Symbiz tear it apart with their post-Dubstep slant. Then you’ve got a dash of EDM darkness from Illexxandra and The Word (formerly Tigorilla) bringing up the rear with his House stomper. The release is on promo and available on Soundcloud for a limited period. Then it will available from all your fave digital music retailers.

I said oi, oi, oi you!

Four years or so ago (maybe longer) myself and my good buddy Andy Amfo aka Suicide Dogz sent a track off to MC Zulu on the off chance that he might wanna collaborate on it with us. To our joy he did and Carnival Madness was born, as well as a great friendship. Then when it was done it was going to be released on Oi You! Recordings. So I asked some producers from the Global Bass world if they would do some remixes. One of those was a young Dutch guy who we thought was shit-hot and that was Munchi. He sent us two absolutely killa remixes and so vibed up was Andy that he even made it it’s own video! But as happens with lots of music biz things, the release got delayed, then shelved. But that video was still out there and peeps be askin’ me, when’s that Munchi mix gonna come out? But, ask no more! Coz’ I think it’s high time you had this ‘lil gem of a track. The wait is over !
